That is when you plug a phone into the jack you get a dial tone without disabling the other phones connected in the house. I thought it might be a problem with the telephone jack so I had the phone service provider come to the house to check the jack which passed all tests. When I unplugged the home alarm line, my home phone started to work again. I traced it back to the jack that the home alarm was plugged into. This all started awhile back when my home phone kept giving me the message that the phone line was disconnected. Some background: I'm not an installer but a homeowner who is trying to resolve some issues. I would certainly appreciate some helpful suggestions on how to fix the trouble code 4 that is showing up in my system. I'll measure voltage on battery every day and see if it slowly drains until the same symptoms appear on the keypad. New board runs $60 so hesitant to just give it a try without confirmation or thoughts from you experts out there I'm guessing the NX-320 controller board could be going bad as it looks like that is where the battery connects, but I really have no clue. Thought maybe a battery fuse somewhere, but looks like there is no fuse. I looked in the installation manual found here:īut couldn't think of what else it could be. So, my guess is that the battery is not charging and slowly draining.

Got a trickle charger, charged up battery full, plugged back in and now system back up and running again. Checked voltage on the battery and was reading 9V instead of 12-13 like normal. Unplugged system and battery and plugged back in and Service Required message came up and nothing else.Ĭhecked voltage on transformer and reading correctly at 17V.

2 days ago, I noticed the keypad was dim again and some zones weren't working. Got battery, plugged it in, reset time, and all good for about 2 weeks. Research online and my battery was 5 years old, so I decided to try a new battery for $17.00 on amazon. I unplugged system and then it came up with Service Required and nothing else. About a month ago, the keypad was dim and some of the zones weren't working.
